RULER OVER THE KINGS

"Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler over the kings of the earth" (Revelation 1:5, NKJV).

The spotlight of the ages is now focused on Christ, the rightful ruler over all the rulers of the earth. The long-awaited moment in history has come at last. It is the thrilling moment for the celestial rendition of the Hallelujah Chorus: "The Lord God Omnipotent reigneth, and He shall reign forever and ever!"

Christ's mighty triumph over sin and death has won back the heritage of Adam (see Colossians 2:15). Planet Earth is once again the sole domain of the One who "loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood" (Revelation 1:5, NKJV). Christ is enthroned as "ruler over the kings of the earth," while the redeemed triumphantly sing, "Great and marvelous are thy deeds, O Lord God, sovereign over all" (Revelation 15:3, NEB). There is now one ruler over all creation, one righteous government, one nation of redeemed men and women. Under Christ's royal rule, mankind will study war no more. Border disputes and territorial conflicts are terminated forever. Throughout the vast, united domain, peace, righteousness, and love will flow like a river.

Think of it, a perfect government in a perfect universe populated by perfect citizens under the united sovereignty of Christ, the perfect ruler! And best of all, this perfect righteous ruler will have no term limits (see Isaiah 9:7). Hallelujah! At last, "the kingdoms of this world will become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ. The heavenly gates are again to be lifted up, and with ten thousand times ten thousand and thousands of thousands of holy ones, our Saviour will come forth as King of kings and Lord of lords."--Signs of the Times, October 28, 1903.

My Prayer Today: Lord, may the day come soon when Christ will reign over one united kingdom of righteousness. Amen.
